The Casio DBA-80 (utilising Module 555) is an iconic, highly collectible vintage digital watch originally released by Casio in 1987. It is legendary for being one of the world's first "Phone Dialer" DataBank timepieces

The Core Innovation: DTMF Dialling
Instead of just storing telephone numbers like a standard DataBank, the DBA-80 could actively dial them. 
  • The Mechanism: You selected a stored contact or typed a phone number into the watch.
  • The Audio Trick: By holding the watch's built-in speaker up to the microphone handset of a traditional landline telephone, the watch emitted a sequence of Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) acoustic tones.
  • The Result: The telephone exchange interpreted these digital sound tones and connected the call automatically.

Manufactured in Japan, the watch stands out due to its unique, asymmetrical rectangular case design and feature-rich digital module. 
  • Telememo / DataBank: Stored a multitude of names and phone numbers directly to internal memory.
  • Schedule Mode: Allowed users to log meeting reminders and specific calendar events.
  • World Time: Kept track of multiple time zones simultaneously.
  • Standard Timekeeping: Equipped with an LCD display, daily alarms, a countdown timer, a 24-hour chronograph (stopwatch), and a backlight.
  • Build Materials: Constructed with a matte black resin case, acrylic crystal, and a matching black resin strap.
